Pall-Ex is continuing to work with their extensive network to raise money in support of those affected by the conflict in Eastern Europe
Earlier this year, Pall-Ex launched the #PLXUKRAINE appeal to raise money for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) whereby members and staff alike were challenged to raise as much money as possible in any way they could.
The DEC is an umbrella group of 15 of the UK’s leading charities who coordinate appeals to raise vital funds so they can deliver aid to victims of overseas crises. They ensure that people fleeing conflict have food, water, warm clothes, and medicines during times when they were forced to leave everything behind but the clothes on their backs.
Pall-Ex Group has united with its network members to ensure that the DEC can continue to provide the incredible support they offer to people in need.
Members of staff at Pall-Ex’s head office in Coalville have also been getting involved with the fundraising by organising their own events and challenges to support the cause.
The appeal kicked off with a football match between Pall-Ex and Fortec held at the King Power Stadium, home of Leicester City Football Club. This proved to be a great way to get the ball rolling, with the event raising an incredible £3,115!
We have also seen fantastic individual efforts with Simaran Uppal, HR Generalist, raising £555 from climbing mount Snowdon, and Ashley Diamond, Head of Network - South West, raising £180 for his participation in the CARTEN100 cycling challenge.
Moody Logistics and Storage also took on a cycling challenge by getting the whole team involved to cycle a combined total of 75 miles over two days on an assault bike stationed in their offices. This, combined with a tombola, resulted in an impressive £2,110 being raised.
The Charity Red Ball challenge at the annual Pall-Ex Group golf day added a further £1,070 to the pot.
Shears Brothers (Transport) organised and hosted their own golf day with a raffle for all to get involved in and some great prizes being given out to the winners. Their fundraising efforts raised £1,002 and brought the grand total up to £8,032.
The appeal will be running until the end of July, with the final event taking place on the 9th of August.
Pall-Ex will be holding a BBQ Extravaganza at their head office in Coalville where Kevin Buchanan, Pall-Ex Group CEO, and other members of the senior management team will be taking to the stocks. Employees will be given the chance to pay a donation for the once in a lifetime opportunity to throw wet sponges at their boss!
Thank you to everyone who has supported the appeal so far.
