As we look ahead to the next 20 years of Pall-Ex, our anniversary year is also a time for reflection and to celebrate everything that has made the network the success it is today.
At the very heart of Pall-Ex are our members and some have been with us since the very beginning.
Here, we profile one of our founder members, Cranleigh Freight Services and take a look back at their time with us.
“The logistics sector requires a constant need for innovation,” admits David Wells, depot principal at Cranleigh Freight Services. “This is exactly why we were attracted to the Pall-Ex concept 20-years ago.”
" The logistics sector requires a constant need for innovation."
The Surrey-based haulier has done exactly that by originally introducing the Pall-Ex concept of every postcode every day as an add on for its European Groupage Service and now as a stand-alone part of its portfolio.
“We’ve evolved and diversified our services to provide solutions that best meet our prospective customer requirements. Having a nationwide pallet collection and delivery service is a definite advantage when looking for these different solutions.
“Being part of Pall-Ex has allowed us to forge new strong links and relationships over the years. It’s about the opportunities that the network can bring to our business as part of our services and whilst our UK operation is fairly small against our European service and DHD Direct Home delivery network – it’s an integral part of our service offerings.”
Looking to the future, David believes the market remains somewhat unpredictable, but that being a member of a pallet network will help to keep the company in a stronger position.
“We believe that competition will remain fierce. It’s vital that we remain focused on growing the business based on service excellence and importantly, sustainable rates. Pall-Ex provides us with a nationwide pallet option and, over the 20 years, we’ve been able to adapt that service to fit our business needs.”
