Pall-Ex is proud to have supported the Ashby Show in what was a fantastic display of country and agricultural life at Cattows Farm, Heather.
The annual show saw around 15,000 visitors attend the one-day event in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside.
Headlining the entertainment was the Jason Smyth Quad Bikes and Clive Shaw American Trucks Adrenaline Display Team who performed gravity-defying acrobatics and stunts in front of a crowd of thousands around the main arena.
Whilst the quadbikes were the most outrageous of the attractions, many were drawn by the agricultural element of the show, with livestock and heavy horse classes attracting many spectators to the various rings around the showground.
With six prestigious Horse of the Year Show qualifying classes, this encouraged large entries in the horse showing section.
New this year was the Ladies Side Saddle of the Year qualifying class, which had an entry of 20 exhibitors all trying to win the coveted place in the final at the NEC, Birmingham. The winner was Mrs C Gilston from Preston, Lancs, on Hawklands Argento Amore.
One of the most hotly anticipated events on the timetable was the Breedon Group Accumulator Showjumping competition which brought some of the country’s best showjumpers along to compete for the £500 top prize. This was won by Geoff Goodwin on his horse Lord Castell.
There was also plenty to do away from the arenas, with just under 200 exhibitors around the showground offering a wide variety of activities and shopping opportunities.
Selling everything from cars, tractors, clothing and jewellery, the stands were busy all day as visitors explored the site.
Another highlight of the day saw a vintage tractor display teamed with a demonstration of state of the art farming machinery that showed the progression of farming technology over the years.
The show was a day for all of the family to enjoy, with stilt walkers, Punch and Judy, bouncy castles and go-karts to entertain the kids.
After this year’s success, the team are already planning next year’s Ashby Show, which will be held on Sunday 12th July 2020, once again at Cattows Farm.
