Mark Steel returns to the track this weekend as the Volkswagen Racing Cup heads to Brands Hatch in Kent.
Mark will be hoping to pick up where he left off at the start of July when the Pall-Ex Director of Sales and Marketing won the Hankook Trophy and enjoyed his best weekend to date at Croft Circuit.
This time out, Mark will be piloting his Staples branded MK7 Golf around the fearsome Brands Hatch GP circuit.
A circuit that is almost unchanged since the days of Nikki Lauda and James Hunt, it remains an exhilarating yet unforgiving track.
Looking forward to the weekend, Mark comments: “I’m really excited to get on track at Brands Hatch.
Having tested there a couple of weeks ago, I’ve got recent experience of the track, and it certainly is quick.
I’m going to have to be brave and very precise through the fast right-handers out the back if I want to mix it with the top guys this weekend.”
The Pall-Ex man currently sits in 11th position in the championship with just two meetings to go at Brands Hatch and then Donington Park in September.
Mark’s form has been on an upward curve throughout the season, with his best performance to date at the previous meeting, a trend he is looking to continue.
“I’m hoping to be where I was last time out at Croft” he explains. “I want to be fighting with the guys in the top 10 and earning some good points to move up in the championship order.
"With just two meetings to go, I want to finish as high as possible for myself, the team and all of the great sponsors who have supported me this season.”
Mark will first take to the track on Saturday afternoon, for qualifying at 14:20.
Race One will take place on Sunday morning at 11:30, with Race Two taking place later on, at 16:50.
